For Today… January 16, 2012 at 11:51am
From the Heart: I'm grateful for a peaceful morning, and I'm hoping for a peaceful, restful day and night. Last week was full of lots of extroverted activities (some of them very intimidating), and I'm in desperate need of recharging.
On the Homefront: I'm thinking we'll try a few hands-on projects today. We wanted to try these:
Don't those look fun? >:D
In the School Room:
It's more of a project kind of day than a regular school day. We may try to fold some paper stars after we make the Jello worms.
In the Literary Scene:
I just finished a charming book from a friend called Cottage Pie. It was about life at a rural cottage in Sussex, England. It had a lot of information about gardening and some recipes. Anyway, it was sweet and delightful, and I was kind of sad to finish it. But I've been looking forward to starting a book about the real King MacBeth.
The girls and I elected to skip Wuthering Heights. We read the first few chapters, and I remembered why I disliked the book so much. It's just ridiculously dark and annoying. So we started Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.
Outside my Window… a few birds are coming in today. I'm counting for Project FeederWatch, and the past two days have been relatively boring, except for the pileated woodpeckers. The light covering of snow we had disappeared all of a sudden, sort of like it appeared.
I am thinking… that I should do some housework and get started on projects. I'm thinking it's hard to come up with brilliant responses to atheists' objections to Christianity. I'm thinking I'm still a little worried about the church. (You know, "The quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little and it will fail to the ruin of all." Okay, so that's a bit melodramatic, but we've either got to get it, or we're going to lose it completely.) However, I am encouraged, overall, with the atmosphere of the town hall meeting we had yesterday. So I will think positively!
I am thankful for…good health and my family. A warm fire and lazy cats.

From the kitchen… Sarah is making Ramen noodles, and I'll have to get myself something for lunch soon. And Jello worms.
I am wearing… pajamas still.
I am hoping… that I haven't forgotten anything. I have this nagging sense that I'm forgetting I have plans and commitments I've made.
I am creating… Jello worms! Where have you been? Oh, and Granny squares of various shapes and sizes.
I am hearing... The Middle. Love this show! And Sarah just sat down to watch a few episodes.
One of my favorite things… good health, beautiful nature, days at home.
I am praying for... good health (always) and for wisdom.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… homeschooling, cleaning, AHG meeting (probably going to give a presentation on the TroopMaster software), Growth Group, youth lock-in, hiking, etc.
I accomplished since last week… oh my word. Well, this past week I met a group of hikers at the park (new people), went to a meeting in downtown Dayton about being a volunteer with MetroParks (new people, plus driving in downtown), had a homeschool co-op thing, planned a presentation about the new software for our AHG leaders (but it got canceled), drove to north of Dayton to get fingerprinted (new people), had the band rehearsal with the new guys, had the Atheist/Christian thing (new people), and then church and the town hall meeting. It was a very extroverted week!
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you:
